2025/26 Forest Kindergarten

Enrollment for children ages 4.5 - 6

Our future Forest Kindergarten will serve children ages 4, 5, and 6. The Forest Kindergarten’s unique nature immersion curriculum paired with Waldorf early childhood education is an extraordinary way to consolidate children's social, emotional, and physical integration and community-building development, exactly what they need to make them ready for first grade. Forest School builds resilience, self-confidence, artistic and musical sensibilities, and children leave for first grade with healthy will forces and a well-rounded integration of their abilities.

Our Curriculum

Our nature and play-based curriculum builds on the innate way that young children learn: through play and social connection. Our outdoor campus will offers an ideal setting for children to learn about themselves and the world through exploring nature, running, climbing, digging, and reflective activities that encourage creativity, handwork, and connection. We teach through imaginative stories, music, and expressive movement. Twice a week we will take the children on an extended hike through the trails behind the Skylane Classroom.

Wholesome Food

Children are served three meals a day: a light morning meal, a robust lunch, and a light afternoon meal. In Forest Kindergarten children often help prepare much of the food. All of the Wildseed harvest goes to the Healthy Food Program. The children visit the farm regularly and are encouraged to garden, tend, and help harvest the produce, building their love for the earth and connection to how food is grown.

Daily Rhythm

Each day follows a recognizable rhythm which supports the children’s feeling of security so they can focus on their work of growth. The daily rhythm includes a balance of expansive times for physical activity and unstructured play, alternating with quiet moments, and structured activities that align with a natural ebb and flow of energy throughout the day. Two mornings a week, children will take a longer morning walk on mountain trails nearby.
